A Long Career In The Making...

Following the singer/songwriter tradition, 21 year old Shane Terry intertwines his views on life with singable melodies, easy-listening jazz harmonies, and a touch of lyrical self-awareness. Borrowing from a throwback writing style, Terry draws inspiration from Jeff Buckley, John Mayer, Radiohead and other artists of the ’90s and 2000s.

Growing up and residing in British Columbia, Terry is quickly emerging into the local Vancouver music scene. As a performer in 2025 at both the Vancouver Khatsahlano Street Party and Ladner Barnside Harvest Festival, Shane is comfortable taking the stage either on his own, or backed by the Shane Terry Band, made up of Lucas Drever on electric bass, and Johneil Viñas on drums. He has also been nominated for the 2025 Fraser Valley Music Awards “Pop Artist” of the Year.

As a graduate of the Vancouver Community College music diploma, the guitar-heavy pop/rock music of Shane Terry clearly showcases his love for the blues, jazz, and folk music. Terry picked up the guitar at 13, and he would practice in his bedroom by learning Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan records until his fingers could no longer take it—occasionally playing upwards of ten hours in a single day.

By technicality, he had his first professional gigs at his local Ladner Dairy Queen at age 16. Only four years later would he be selected to perform at the Ladner Barnside Harvest Festival with his band—a full circle moment in his career.

Shane Terry takes his writing process seriously, and may go to extreme lengths to conceive his compositions. Inspired by folk legend Bon Hiver, Terry went on a 10 day songwriting retreat at a remote cabin in the woods of BC with no electricity. He brought his acoustic guitar named “Grizzly” (a high school graduation gift from his mother) along with a portable recorder, and wrote an entire song for every night he stayed.

Currently, Shane has released four professionally recorded singles, and is in the process rolling out his debut EP as an independent artist. He looks forward to creating music to inspire others, in the same way that his favourite music inspired him.
